    3. I believe I might have posted this quite some time ago, but found it again yesterday and thought it wouldn't hurt to share it again. Back on May 23, 1997, cousin Susan Howe and I visited the Middletown, VT Community Church and looked at some of the old Congregational Church record books. One book we checked was "A Book of Records for the Congregational Church in Middletown Beginning in April 26th 1797 Being the Second Volume of Records for That Church." It was a large book so I started toward the end and found some baptisms. Jan. 15th 1809, Abigail, consort to Johnson Rudd; Hannah, consort to Stephen Richardson; David, Vincent, Leonard, Olive, Erastus, children of Abigail Rudd. Clarissa, Harvey, children of Hannah Richardson. So that gives us five children for Abigail (Brown) and Johnson Rudd. Hannah Richardson, wife of Stephen Richardson was born Hannah Rudd, and would be a sister of Johnson Rudd. On page 81, Jan. 10, 1809. The church met according adjournment at which time Miss Coleman, Mr. Erastus Coy and his consort, Miss Rudd and Miss Richardson related to the church their Christian experience. Voted to adjourn till Tuesday the 17th inst. Sunday 15th 1809. After reading the articles of faith and covenant, Miss Coleman, Miss Richardson and Miss Rudd, the foregoing candidates consented thereunto and were by vote of the chh. admitted to all the privileges of the chh. [Of course, it shouldn't be Miss for Richardson and Rudd, but that's how I copied it.] Page 82, March 7, 1809. Asked for membership, Mr. Joshua Paul, Johnson Rudd, Betsey Hicks & John Hicks, Jr. March 16, 1809, admitted. One of these days I hope to get back up to Middletown and look through all of these books at a leisurely pace! I understand that the very earliest book has now been found, so that would be good to check as well. Joann Nichols Vermont
