Last Will and Testament Mary (Whaley) Rudd of St. James Goose Creek, Charleston District, South Carolina In the Name of God, Amen. I Mary Rudd of the State of South Carolina and Charleston District and the Parish of St. James Goose Creek being weak in body but of a sound mind and memory and knowing that it is appointed unto all men once to die and as it has pleased Almighty God to bless me with a portion of this worlds goods, I Mary Rudd, widow, do constitute this to be my last will and testament, that is to say, I give my body to be buried in a Christian-like manner and my spirit to God that gave it and as it regards my worldly goods namely a negro woman named Jinny and a negro man Isaac, Fillis and her child Milly and Cate, a negro boy Ned which I dispose of in the following manner. First, I order all the above named property to be sold at auction and all my lawful debts paid then I order that the remainder to be equally divided between my two sons William Whaley and George P. Whaley and my daughter Mary Gibson's children to receive one fourth part and my daughter Susannah Nettles one fourth part, provided that the above named property by any conveyance execution to them previously, otherwise they are not to realize no part of the above named property further than their former claims will entitle them to. And I further give and bequeath unto my daughter Susannah Nettles all my household and kitchen furniture and I further give to my daughter Susannah Nettles' two children all my stock of hogs and cattle and I do hereby constitute and appoint my son, George P. Whaley, as my sole Executor to this my Last Will and Testament and revoking all others. I constitute and make this to be my Last Will and Testament. Given under my hand and seal the 7th day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand and forty-eight.
