Marriage Settlement of Burlingham Rudd and Mary Whaley Rudd Charleston District, South Carolina Whereas Mrs. Mary Whaley, now Mrs. Burlingham Rudd, is authorized to sell and convey any portion of her real or personal Estate, which she owned before her intermarriage with the said Burlingham Rudd which said contract is of record in the Office of the Secretary of State for the State aforesaid, and whereas the said Mary Rudd is desirous of conveying certain negroes to her son, George P. Whaley. Now know all men by these presents that the said Mary Rudd for and in consideration of natural love and affection and for the sum of one dollar paid to the said Mary by the said George P. Whaley, has sold, bargained and conveyed to the said George P. Whaley the three following negroes, viz.: Isaac about eight years of age, Phillis about four years of age, and Cate about two years old, the said negroes being part of the personal Estate contained in the aforesaid marriage contract, the said negroes to be delivered at my death, it being covenanted and agreed to by the said George P. Whaley and the said Mary Rudd for herself, her heirs, executors, administrators and assigns forever warrants and --- the negroes above named to the said George P. Whaley, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns. In Testimony whereof the said Mary Rudd has hereunto affixed her mark and seal the twenty-second day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty-five.     3. Hi Linda, How are you doing? I have been so busy. Lots of company. First I had my niece here, then dropped my son off at camp, then my niece went home and my parents came. Then pick the son up from camp. And so on. The short of it is, I have not had time to read all of this wonderful stuff. So as soon as I have a spare minute, I am going to go through it. Guess what? My husband fences (the sport), and next year the championships are in South Carolina. So guess what I am going to do while he is fencing. We are going to take our vacation there, and I want to do a bunch of research there and NC. So start making a list of things we want, and I will get them. It will be next June/July.
