    1. Re: [RUDD] Marriage Settlement of Burlingham Rudd and Mary Whaley Rudd
    2. Hi Anne, Sounds like you are having a full summer. Remember the Prince Frederick Parish baptisms you sent me? If this Burlingham (2nd), that married the widow Mary Whaley, is the one born in 1741 in those baptisms, then he was about 85 when they married and 94 when he died. Based on the birth year of Mary Whaley's first born, William Whaley about 1801, if that is Burlingham 2nd, he was about 40 years her senior. Her youngest child, George P. Whaley, would have been about 21, so she didn't have any young children needing care. And when you factor in that there are two named Burlingham Rudd in 1800 that say they are over 45 years old, one in Barnwell, SC and one in Charleston, SC, it's very possible that the one in Charleston IS NOT the Burlingham 2nd he has been believed to be all these years. And another thing, in all the information, deeds, wills, etc., I've looked at, I find nothing that says that Burlingham 2nd was the father of Burlingham 3rd (the Revolutionary Patriot). So I don't know how that conclusion was drawn. If anyone has some information on that, I sure would appreciate their sharing it. Linda Rudd
