As I'm sure many of you know, the DAR is not a particularly good source for accurate records. One of my great-grandmothers (on Rudd side) joined in the early 19th century. I have an enormous (truly enormous) certificate she received of which she was horrendously proud. I've had it framed with red, white, and blue matting because it's an heirloom and it was special to her. However, the genealogist she actually PAID to prove her connection got the line all wrong. My mother later straightened it out and thought it "amusing" Grandma was well qualified to be a member, but it under false pretenses. We had bazillion ancestors who fought in the war. It's not "amusing" because I assume the inaccurate genealogy is archived. And, I confess, I've never tried to straighten it out. The DAR didn't check out her claim properly. I guess the man she chose to say she was related to was really in the War, he just didn't happen to be our ancestor. The full line was "passed" and was wrong.
