Thanks Carol, I have both of the wills also. In reading the will of Burlingham you'll see it refers to a marriage contract, a prenuptial I think. I have been notified by the SC Archives there is something called a marriage settlement on record there, so I'm sending for a copy. It should be interesting to see what the arrangements were before they married. It will probably take about 4 weeks to get it, but when I do, I'll post it to the mail list! Thanks again, Linda
