    3. Celia- VERY interesting possibility! It needs to be checked out, for sure! This may well be a good lead. Much to Joann's probable consternation, I'm still holding out a small amount of hope that it will turn out to be Mary Metcalf, because that would validate the Dowry Chest...but wishful thinking can't take the place of diligent research. Let's see what others can come up with about Mary Browne. Kevin K. In photocopying the material we obtained from the Rogue Valley Genealogical Society, I ran across something very interesting. Let me know what you think: William Browne, son of Rev. Joseph, settled Saybrook then removed to L.I. where he died 1650. He m. Jane Burgess 20 June 1611. William Browne was a schoolmaster at Rusper. Children: 1. Joseph bapt 8 Oct 1613 2. John bapt 15 Oct 1615 3. Jane bapt 13 Sep 1618; d 21 Aug 1620 4. Phoebe bapt Oct 1620, m1) Thomas Lee; m2) Greenfield Larrabee; m3) ? Cornish. She died 28 Dec 1664, Northampton, MA 5. Mary bapt 6 Oct 1620 6. Thomas bapt 9 Jan 1624 7. Henry bapt 28 Dec 1626 These are Marie's notes: Could above Mary BROWNE (bapt 6 Oct 1622) have married Jonathan RUDD? She could have lived with sister, Phoebe, in Saybrook and been considered a LEE. I looked and looked for a Mary, sister of Thomas Lee, for the possible Mary Lee. I cannot locate the note I made many years ago that when the monument was erected in her honor - I believe at Bride's Brook - she was called Mary Lee. I do not understand why I did not follow this further, unless I found a marriage for Mary BROWNE, but I have no notes to show that I did. It is well worth a try.
