I just tried to access the Jonathan Rudd website and the page would not open. Has anyone else had this problem? Diane
Thanks Dot! Hope the information helps. Yes, I installed the Jonathan Rudd Family website. The web space is free because of my connection to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The mailing list is also a freebie because I'm a RootsWeb contributor. I also have mail lists for the following surnames: DePuy and Hartle. I also have another web site (on RootsWeb) with all my family information posted - it's free too. These are all perks of being a RootsWeb contributor. I'm so glad you enjoy it, Celia >Celia - Again, thanks. Think these 2 CD's are just what I am looking for at >this >point. Leora: Hi! The Jonathan Rudd website that I was referring to is the one we are already using for this e-mail. Dot
Celia - Again, thanks. Think these 2 CD's are just what I am looking for at this point. I've cleared up a lot of things hanging fire so that I can start working on my loose ends that I just couldn't before. One more question. You are the one who instigated the Jonathan Rudd Family Website - right? As I know nothing about setting up one, I'm going to ask if you have to pay for this, and if so, I'm sure that several of us would like to contribute from time to time. I can't imagine my getting up anywhere from 5 A.M. on and not being able to go immediately (with my cup of coffee) and checking out the website. It makes my day!!! Thanks so much for all the pleasure you have given me since Joann told me about it at a family reunion a couple of years ago. All my best. Dot Rudd DuMond

Celia: Thanks so much from many of us, I'm sure. Am glad to see the church records because I was beginning to think they were a rough gang that didn't go to church. Couldn't believe it, but couldn't find them anywhere and they were just a very few miles from that beautiful church in old Bennington. Appreciate all the records you referred to - will check them as I can get access to them. Am concentrating on my own families now. Have given up being the town historian and spending the time trying to tie up my loose ends. It's like starting all over again, but just as much fun. Again, thanks so much. Think there are several of our "gang" who have the Wood connection in some way or another. Dot
Dear Jennifer Lovely to hear from you. As yet I have not been able to find James on the 1881 & would be extreamly grateful to take a look at the James you have spoted. His father was Alfred Rudd & he married in 1888 at St Nicholas's in Gt Yarmouth to Jeanette Miller. Hi Jayne, Have you found this fellow on the 1881 census? If not, I have the CDs and can check for him. Do you know anything else about this fellow or his family? There is one James Rudd of the right age in Lincolnshire in 1881 but you'd need more info to know if this is the correct chap. I saw the following in the latest issue of Everton's Genealogical Helper - thought someone here may be interested: ""The Rood/Roode/Rude Genealogy, Descendants of Thomas Roode and Sarah (?)," 1999. Mastercard, Visa and Discover accepted. For credit card orders please call or use web site. This collection of records on the ROOD - ROODE - RUDE family in the United States 1626-1999 is the result of 37 years of research by the author plus many records contributed by fellow researchers. Sources include census records, obituaries, family histories, newspaper articles, Bible records, court records, wills, and more. The first generation of this genealogy begins with Thomas ROOD ROODE who was born 1625-26 in Glastonbury, County, Somerset, England. In the following chapters, we follow thirteen generations of descendants to Connecticut, Vermont, and other areas of the United States. There are footnotes throughout the genealogy, giving the source of the information. A full-name index lists all the individuals found in this fine genealogical study."" Celia [in Illinois]
