Hi all Listers, The case I was working on is now closed and so I am going to unsubscribe from this List. Before I do so, I would like to thank you all for your assistance and especially to Celia Snyder for her assistance to me on the List ! Thanks. Keep up the good work. Hi Dot, Jane and other cousins, I was able to locate a copy of Amelia Rudd's book, "Records of the Rudd Family," 1920 some time back and have it ordered from a rare book dealer in Rosscarbery, County Cork, Ireland. I'll let y'all know when I receive it. Celia PS: I also have "The Mavericks of Devonshire and Masschusetts" on order. >Dear Jane: > >I'm not sure which Rudd book you are referring to, but there used to be a >ref. only >book in the New Eng. This book was mentioned on the list some time ago. Published in the 1920's by Ameila RUDD. Just to let UK listers know- I have tracked down reference only copies at the British Library in London and the reference section of the Lincoln Library. Jane
Dear Jane: I'm not sure which Rudd book you are referring to, but there used to be a ref. only book in the New Eng. H. & G. Society in Boston. This was a good many years ago, and the only Rudd book I had ever found up to that point. They wouldn't let me photocopy it, and I was just getting ready to leave for home after a week long seminar at the NEHG. I was so mad at them that I just walked out. Joann, No, I don't have any dates for A.H. Rudd except it would have been before 1878, the year "History of Saratoga County, New York" was published. I apologize if I confused the list. Rudds are not the family line that migrated from Lancaster, PA to Ontario, Canada. (It was the Schurch line--Swiss Mennonites.) I was sharing the importance of attending family reunions. I had not attended any family reunions since I was a very small child. The weekend reunion we attended included tours, displays, talks and slides on the history of the family, a banquet, auction, and a worship service. Lots of opportunities to "fill in blanks" as family research experts were there. I'm sure many family reunions have folks attending who know family stories and histories Judy
Hi, Judy, Do you have any dates for this A.H. Rudd? Rudd Branches has an Arthur Horace Rudd, but he married a Jessie Snell according to that. I went to the Rudd Reunion in Arlington, VT; Dot DuMond was there. If you're planning for next year, I believe it will be the first Sunday in August. I was not aware that any Rudds from Lancaster Co., PA had migrated to Canada. That is extremely interesting. Does anyone know if they can be linked to the Burlingham or George Lounesdale Rudd line? Earl Alger Rudd doesn't appear in Rudd Branches. Guess I'd check the 1910 Michigan census to see what household this little three year old boy appears in. That should find his parents. Hello Cousin, Long time no hear, most be summer and now that summer is coming to an end, maybe we will see a little more interaction. Great news, Janet! I would like the updated R.B. to include better information on the Increase, Silas, and Increase(6) Rudd line. Ask him what he'd like to know. Celia, Kevin, Joann, and all - I upgraded my computer and changed my e-mail name from JanetRudd@aol.com to my new address: JLRudd3@aol.com. I unsubscribed from the old and subscribed under my new address. I believe this list is one of the best on the internet, and all of us "cousins" willingly exchange information in efforts to help others interested in their ancestry. I have just received a draft of an updated "Rudd Branches" from Tom Clark, who is hoping to bring the information up to current times. He does not have a computer and does his work on a manual typewriter. I would like very much to assist in his efforts, as his work is an excellent "quick" reference in tracing lineage... I will write more on this later. Janet Rudd in Illinois
Hi all Listers, Has anyone heard of the names Dudley Walton RUDD born circa 1906 in Surrey ? He later changed his surname to WALTON-RUDD, which is possible that his mother's maiden name was a WALTON. He came out to South Africa where he died, but am interested in the main areas in England the RUDD's lived as I am being unsuccessful in obtaining his Birth Certificate in Surrey. Many thanks Valda Napier Professional Probate Genealogist (Johannesburg) valdanapier@mweb.co.za
Thanks Merle, Yes, I've used Walter's homepage, very good work. Still filling in blanks, I am desc. of Seth, so we're 1st cousins 5x removed. Which son of Sam, and his son are you from for my records? Are you a Fl. GA. AL or TX Rudd ? Thanks for sharing, cousin. Have you checked out this website on Burlingham Rudd genealogy? Walter Rudd and others have put a lot of work into it: http://homepage.hitter.net/wrudd/ I also come from Burlingham Rudd abt 1705 to abt 1770, George Loundsdale Rudd abt 1745 to ?, George Loundsdale Rudd Jr abt 1770 to ?, Elias David Rudd 1790 to 1876, Samuel Rudd 1824 to 1892. Samuel Rudd was a brother to Seth Rudd 1816 to 1894. One of your many, many Rudd cousins, Merle Rudd Harms
Hi all Listers, Am having a battle to receive messages, so am writing to the List to see if this works ! (Celia has been most efficient in assisting me - Thank you Celia). Has anyone heard of a Dudley Walton RUDD born circa 1906 in Surrey ? He later changed his surname to WALTON-RUDD. Many Thanks Valda Napier Professional Probate Genealogist (Johannesburg) valdanapier@mweb.co.za
I've just joined this mailing list and look forward to sharing information with other Rudd researchers. Burlingham came from Eng., son Elias David b. 1790, his son Seth b. 1810, his son Samuel Jackson b. 1843. From Nc to SC to GA and AL to FL.
Hi Rudd Cousins, Please welcome Valda Napier to the list. Valda - why don't you tell us a little bit about the Rudds you are researching. Celia (List Administrator)
Cheryl, thanks for the 'hints', I'll look into it. There was also a Margaret Rudd age 18 in the 1850 LaPorte IN census living with an attorney and his family which included small children so she was probably a mother's helper. Keep me posted and I will do the same. Terry
