Hi, all "cousins" I talked to Hugh about a month ago. I had ordered his book on his line from Capt. John Rudd who emigrated to Virginia in 1663. Hugh has done a tremendous job keeping that genealogy, and I wanted his book for my personal library, and to do "look-ups" for other researchers. He was having a bit of trouble with the printing company at that time. I know he had suffered some injuries from an auto accident some time ago, and then a bout with some cancer. When I talked to him he was feeling a little despondent. I was about to call him again, to see how he's doing. I haven't sent him any e-mail lately, and if he's not answering, perhaps he's just in a slump. Maybe writing him a letter might help! He certainly is an asset to this group. Have been away from my research for a while, and it's piling up - will have more time now and hope to catch up soon. Everybody, have a lovely day. Janet
Hugh is still subscribed and the emails aren't bouncing. Maybe he's on vacation. Celia >In a message dated 98-06-30 16:16:19 EDT, you write: > ><< JAMES W.G. Greetings, Crowd---- JAMES W.G. RUDD was born somewhere in North Carolina, abt. 1815. Thought Warren Co., but not sure. Wife on 1850 census was MALINDA (Sindy)?, also born abt 1815, in North Carolina. Believe they went to Cherokee Co., Ga., around 1835 or so. First child was Henry Clay Rudd, born in GA., 1840. There were several more children born, assume all born in same area. Census said they lived in 15th Dist. of Cherokee Co., before leaving to go to Shelby County, Alabama in 1859-60. Hi Clan, While I'm hear I may as well mention that I got a response from my mass mailings to Rudd's in Owensboro, KY (all 13 of them). One of the Rudd's mothers had about 100 names of descendents of William Brooke Rudd, along with most of their birthdates and marriage dates. W. B. Rudd was a son of James Rudd from Maryland. He is the one mentioned in the "Records of the Rudd Family" by Mary A. Rudd. (Cousin Nancy sent a number of copies of this out, thanks again!) William's brother, Capt. James is my G4-Grandfather. Anyway, most of the descendents are from, or around, the Springfield, KY area (that is in Washington Co.) so if anyone has any info or wants any info about Rudd's in this area, please drop me a note. Take care all, --Van Rudd Ann Arbor, MI

Hi, Celia, This is the e-mail address I have from a message from Randy this morning: [email protected] I sent him by regular mail on Saturday and he must have gotten it Monday(!) a packet of stuff I had researched on his Ames line. Think I got his Elijah back to CT for a couple of generations. He sent an e-mail this morning thanking me. Wish US mail could travel as fast. Best, Joann

Hi, Okay, you don't have dates on Thomas; but do you have dates on any of the others? It would be have something as a starting place. Where did you get the info he was born in Vermont? If in fact he was born in VT, I might be able to help you with a few more clues, as I live in VT. Joann Nichols [email protected] [email protected] wrote: > Thomas E. Rudd , dates unknown, m. Hi, Rudd cousins, I checked my 1850 and 1860 CD-ROM census indexes to see what I could find for Rudd people in Decatur Co., Georgia. None in Decatur Co. in 1850, but in 1860, there are three. They are all in Attapulgus P.O. (post office), page 204; their names are Arthur Rudd, Jessee Rudd and William Rudd. So if anyone has access to this 1860 census and looked up these three men they could probably discover who James (Jimmy) Rudd is listed with as a ca 8 year old son. Good luck, Joann Nichols [email protected] Celia G. Snyder wrote: > Forwarding to ya'll cause I just know there is someone here who can help > this person. Good detecting, Celia! How can we go about following up on this Browne possibility? I wonder when they arrived in what is now the U.S. I see in the Genealogist's Handbook for New England Research that Saybrook (now Deep River) was established in 1635, so that is probably about when William Browne arrived. I would guess that Rusper where he was a schoolmaster might have been in the UK. Anyone familiar with British places? Was this information in the Browne items you got from Rogue Valley? I've never read that part of my "packet." Best, Joann Celia G. Celia- VERY interesting possibility! It needs to be checked out, for sure! This may well be a good lead. Much to Joann's probable consternation, I'm still holding out a small amount of hope that it will turn out to be Mary Metcalf, because that would validate the Dowry Chest...but wishful thinking can't take the place of diligent research. Let's see what others can come up with about Mary Browne. Kevin K. I cannot locate the note I made many years ago that when the monument was erected in her honor - I believe at Bride's Brook - she was called Mary Lee.
