Hi, Judy, I don't know if you need to know what your Hartshorn ancestry is or not. The address my letter came from was Velma Fast, Hartshorn Family Reunion - 1999, 4023 NW South Drive, Riverside, MO 64151, telephone 816/741-8066. I used to be a member of the Hartshorn Family Association for a couple years, but then didn't renew, but occasionally I still get mailings from them. The cost is, sailing from the Port of Vancouver, BC, Category L Inside $989.00; Category H Outside $1,230.00; 3rd/4th person sharing stateroom with two full-fair paying adults $399.00. All port charges and taxes are included in this rate along with shipboard accommodations, entertainment and lots and lots of great foof (24 hr food if you wish). This rate is a saving of $1,060.00 on category L and $1,119.00 on category H. This price does not include air transportation, transfers, or items of a personal nature such as shore excursions, sodas, alcoholic beverages, gratuities, etc. For those of you wishing to do so, you will have the ability to purchase air transportation at an additional cost. And more info is included. Joann [email protected] wrote: > Joann, > > I would be interested in more information regarding the Hartshorn Reunion > Cruise. Where did this info come from? Judy & all - The Hartshorn reunion cruise seems very interesting, and I'd like to learn more about it. Your question regarding a mailing list - Send an e-mail to: [email protected] with message: subscribe and you'll get a reply adding you to their list. I've just subscribed myself but haven't received any info on the cruise.... Maybe Joann can supply more info. Janet
Hello, Cousins Yes, it's long lost cousin, Nancy. As we all are, I have been very busy and have put genealogy, ALMOST on hold. My twin boys graduated from HS in June and my daughter is marring in 30 days. I am making every thing (dresses (6), invatations, all decorations, favors, etc, etc. I just finally caught up on July's mail from you all. First, I have the "Rudd-Metcalf record" from Joann's peri listing. It is titled "The Bride of Bride's Brook" by Norine Boyd Stewart. Just tells about the Brides Brook wedding, but names Mary Metcalf as the bride. It's only 2 para. long, so if you all want it, I'll send it out. (on this board) Second....Celia, I very much want some of the info you have available for coping, from the Marie Hogle collection. But really, really don't have time to read through them all and make choises. If I can still get copies, say in September, that would be very helpful. But if you choose not to drag it on that long, or if it is already to late, I surely would understand. Please let me know. Thanks To all of you, thanks for the recent info on Johnson and Bathsheba, also my line. I very much look forward to getting back into genealogy (and life itself). But also look forward to Elly and Jeremy's wedding day. Wish me luck!! Thanks again Cousin Nancy
Hi, Cousins, Did any of you descended from Nathaniel(2) Rudd and Abigail Hartshorn get the mailing from the Hartshorn Family Reunion - 1999, regarding the Royal Caribbean cruise of the Inside Passage in Alaska, to be held starting May 29, 1999? I'm really psyched! It doesn't seem too expensive; have to check into the cost for air transportation to British Columbia from Hartford, CT (Bradley Airport). Also, the cruise consultant can arrange for air transportation; they have an 800 number. If you haven't received the mailing and are interested, I'll see what additional information I can give you. Joann Nichols (with two Hartshorn lines, one to Rudd and one to Eaton) [email protected]
Hi, Sherry, Welcome! I think I remember Celia posting something to the list regarding Elias David Rudd's line. Was that for you? It will be great if you can look for the entry at the Ft. Wayne library. In fact, all the entries that were on the PERSI e-mail I sent would be there, in case you find anything else on there you'd like. Joann Nichols Sherry L. Hi, Kevin, and other cousins, The latest that I'm sure Bathsheba is alive is at the time Increase(4)'s will was filed. I have a copy of a notice from the probate court for the district of Rutland: To Bathsheba Rudd Widow, Barak Rudd, Johnson, Samuel Rudd, Stephen Richardson and Hanna his wife, Rastus Hill and Theda his wife, Samuel Spicer and Sarah his wife, Ormond Butler and Abigail his wife and Pitman Barker and Lydia his wife. Widow of and heirs to the estate of Increase Rudd late of Middletown in said district. This was dated the 7th? day of Jan. 1803. Johnson Rudd was authorized to deliver and return this citation. In his will he does not mention his wife; here's what he does do: 1st, I do give and bequeath unto My Son Silas Rudd one Dollar to be paid him after my decease out of the avails of my Cooper's tools, to be raised and paid out by my Executor. 2nd, I do hereby give and bequeath unto Deborah Wood my daughter one Dollar to be paid by my executor after my decease out of the avails of my household goods. 3rd, I do hereby give and bequeath to Hannah Richardson my Daughter Two Dollars to be paid her by my Executor after my decease out of the avails of my household goods. 4th, I do hereby give and bequeath to My Son Barak Rudd Six Dollars to be paid by my executor after my decease out of my goods and chattels. 5th, I also do hereby give and bequeath to my four[sic] daughters, Theda, Sarah, Abigail, Lydia and Olive, all and singular my personal goods and chattels, other than such as are disposed of above, to be equally divided among them after my decease; excepting My Loom and its furniture, and My bed, and the bed which is called Olives and the bedding belonging to both, which I do bequeath to my daughter Olive; And also excepting my farming tools & coopers tools, which I do hereby bequeath to my Sons Johnson & Samuel on their paying what is above charged on sd Tools; and also excepting my foot wheel, which I bequeath to my sd Daughter Olive. 6, And I do hereby appoint my Son Silas to be executor to this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this 7th day of May A.D. 1800. Increase Rudd Signed Sealed ) Nathl. Wood Jnr. in Presence of ) Sabra Kinne There are several other documents in the file; one is, on 23 Sept. 1804, Theophilus Clark was appointed administrator, as Silas, the executor, had died 19 Feb. 1804. He gave bond with Johnson Rudd as surety. There is another small piece of paper listing a mare at $30 and a cow at $13 and saying, The above Mare & Cow were reserved by Mr. Rudd to his Widow after his decease to be disposed of at her will & pleasure. Have therefore reserved them out of the General Inventory, altho appraised, subject to the order of the Judge. N. Wood, Jr. For the appraisers. There is no date on this paper. Another reference to Bathsheba Rudd is in the Middletown Congregational Church records I quoted from last night: In a list of members, perhaps ca. 1783, is Bathsheba Rudd. Of course, Middletown was not chartered until 1784, out of four other towns, Wells, Tinmouth, Poultney and Ira. I think the church may have been in the section that came off of Wells. Hope this helps to keep Bathsheba as Increase's one and only! Joann Kevin K. Joann--- Thanks for the response on Bathsheba...when I got that part of the tree originally from Celia and added your info to it and what I had, somehow in the file, I believe in Celia's info, it showed Increase with two wives, one unidentified. The children were split between the two wives such that Sarah, Abigail, Lydia, Samuel, and Olive were attributed to the second wife, all with birth dates in 1772 and after. Bathsheba's children were all born, according to this same info, in 1767 and before, and included Silas, Deborah, Eunice, Hannah, Barak, Theedee(Theda, Thedy), and Johnson. Just so I don't screw anything up, would you and Celia both confirm for me that there was no second wife, and all of these children were Increase and Bathsheba's?? Thanks! Kevin K. When the Rudd family, including Abigail and her children, moved to Onondaga County, NY after the death of Johnson in Middletown, VT, I find that Abigail married again. I have not found the record of the marriage. But, by him she had one child - Mariah, who married in Ohio, Michael Conlisk. She may have married Benjamin, the father of Sarah DePuy who married Leonard Rudd, but if so, the gravestone of Arena must have the wrong death date. Hi, Cousins, My friend who had done research on a Lucy Rudd/Rexford Wittum sent me the name of her client who was looking for this about 15 years ago. He's not on e-mail so I wrote him a letter today. It's always good to write things out, as I have determined that Lucy could not be a daughter of Johnson. He had two daughters under 10 in 1810, and those would probably be Olive and Clarissa. In May of 1997, Susan Howe and I went to the Community Church in Middletown where they have the old Congregational Church records. I may have posted this info befoe, but here is something relative to Johnson Rudd: Baptisms, Jan. 15th 1809, Abigail, consort to Johnson Rudd, David, Vincent, Leonard, Olive, Erastus, children of Abigail Rudd. On March 7, 1809, Johnson Rudd asked for membership and on the 16th was admitted. Anyway, notice the order the children are listed. I'm wondering if Vincent might have been older than Leonard. I'm also wondering if Clarissa might have been born later than the date these children were baptized. Celia, I think you provided me with dates for Johnson's children, and I got some info from Rudd Branches. Anyone with thoughts on this? Joann
Yes, Kevin, You're right, it could be Bathsheba! If you haven't seen a copy of Increase(4)'s probate, let me say that Bathsheba is mentioned in there. She is also mentioned in the Middletown Congregational Church Records. Increase did not have a second wife. Joann Kevin K. Celia, Joann, & all: 1810 minus 45 years would be 1765...if Abigail's mom was at the bottom end of 45+, she'd have only been ten when Abigail was born. Not likely, but within a few years of correct. The high end during that time period would probably be about 70. If Mom was born in 1740, and she'd have been 35 when Abigail was born. The range is probably pretty close. Then again, looking at Johnson's mom, Bathsheba Johnson, she was born in 1739, and we know Increase died in 1802. Is there any reason to believe it wasn't her?? Do we know when she died? She'd have been a widow for 8 years at the time of the 1810 census, and about 71 years old. And what's the story on Increase's 'other' wife? I show two wives, but no info on #2, and no death date for Bathsheba Johnson. Am I all messed up? Could it have been one of them?? -----Original Message----- From: Celia G. It's possible the 45+ female could be Abigail's mother - too bad they didn't list names, I would LOVE to find out her mother's name. Abigail's parents are a mystery! Thanks again, Celia
