    3. Welcome, Jennifer! I don't know that we have any other than the US right now, but why not have Canada, etc.??? I know in looking at Canadian censuses I have seen Rudd names as coming from England, as I remember. Chime right in! 1. England FWK=framework knitter
    2. Sandy
    3. Sorry, I meant to add..... Regarding the FWK shown on the baptisms from St Mary's Parish Nottingham......... FWK stands for framework knitter....an occupation of the lace trade (the framework knitters made the lace).... Where you see FWK on the baptisms, this indicates the father's occupation. Best regards, Sandy [email protected] -----------

My RUDD connections >are from Ireland to Canada. > >Thank you, >Jennifer Kolthammer >[email protected] <Big Grin> I shouldn't think so.....I expect it's for Rudds the world around....altho my very slim connection to the RUDD name occurs in Warren Co, NC, USA. However, your post prompts me to give the following information of baptisms from Nottingham (city) England.....St. Mary's Parish. I got these when I was trying to determine if there might be a connection to my HOYLE family of Nottingham St. Mary's who emigrated ca 1819 to Warren Co, NC.. Timothy Hoyle (who was a hosier in Nottingham prior to emigrating to Warren Co) died within a few years of coming to Warren Co -- before 1825, when wife Hannah (nee Dodson) Hoyle remarried to a William Lee RUDD. As it turns out, it would appear Wm Lee Rudd is connected to the Rudds of Mecklenburg Co, VA, who presumably were in the US for quite a number of years, hence no apparent relationship to these RUDDS in Nottingham, Engl. <sigh> Nevertheless, perhaps the following baptism of Rudds in St Mary's Parish, Nottingham, will be of some use to someone on this list..... --Sandy [email protected] ---------------- >From the St Mary's Parish baptism register, Nottingham, England: >Date Surname First name and Parents >13 Aug 1709 RUDDERIC ? I've tried to ballpark the reasonable time-frame for the marriages. These are all maiden name RUDD......... *possibly* all daughters of William Lee Rudd (they are shown in the 1850 census in the household of William Rudd, who was age 46): Rebecca (born ca 1828) .. prob. married AFT 1850 census, say between 1850-60; Harriett (born ca 1839)....prob. married btwn 1857-70; Sally A. (b ca 1849) .... prob. married btwn 1867-80; It's possible they never married...or that they married somewhether other than Warren Co (like Franklin Co or Granville)....but I'm sure hoping.....!
