Hi, Janet, Just happened to think; have you ever found Harvey and Charlotte in the 1850 or 1860 or 1870 censuses? If not, here is info on Harvey R. Rudd from my 1860 census index: Census Index: U.S. Selected States/Counties, 1860 Rudd, Harvey R. State : IL County : Kane Co. Location : Kaneville Town Year : 1860 Page # : 1047 It might possibly list some kids with them. Good luck, Joann janet dafler wrote: > Hi again, > > When you hit the wrong key---mistakes happen. Joann-- Your reply had some interesting things in it, so I'm going to reply to the group so they get the benefit of your and my comments. I've also removed my e-mail address from "reply to" in the properties of my Internet Mail. Let me know if this does the trick. It is entirely possible that Barak may have died shortly after visiting in Missouri, if he and Livonia were visiting William and his family. However, his death certificate shows the place of death as "218 Gardner St., Joliet, Ill." and the cause as "acute hepatitis". The date of death Milton has is close, but not quite correct, according to Barak's tombstone(which, by the way, is in Illinois). The tombstone shows Oct. 12, 1900, as does his death certificate. Milton's assertion that Alonzo fought for the Confederacy, however, is totally false. I have a copy of his Civil War service record, issued by the U.S., which shows him fighting in the Illinois Militia for the Union Army, and taking a bullet in the leg at the battle of Mission Ridge, Tennessee. I'll have to help him sort that one out. I'll drop him a line. Thanks for sending his address. Kevin. -----Original Message----- From: Joann H. Nichols [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, September 27, 1998 6:41 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: Unidentified subject! Hi, Kevin, I'll just reply to you this time. You need to go into properties or some such to change "Reply To." Take out your name and leave it blank. Then when you send a message to the Rudd Mail List, replies will automatically go back there. I had to try it a couple of times before it fixed mine. Notice that most people's headings show Return To with the Rudd Mail List. However, yours doesn't show Return To. Well, that's my computer lesson for today! I haven't yet written Milton Rudd, but he's descended from William Henry Rudd who married Elidia Ann Hayden. Milton has them dying in Chula, MO, but doesn't have exact dates for them. He also has your Barack dying in Chula, MO Oct. 14, 1900. Is that what you have? He sent me some FTM printouts and lists six children for Barack Rudd and Lydia Attwood: William Henry Rudd, Emma Rudd, Adelia Rudd, Charles Rudd, Sophronia Rudd, Alonzo Rudd. Interesting item he adds on Alonzo Rudd: Alonzo, much to the consternation of the family went off to fight with the Confederate Army. He was never heard from again. Bet you didn't know that! Milton's address is 420 Parkland Way, Fernley, NV 89408-9518. Hope you can fix your Reply To function. You should have a preferences place or an options place or something. Since I use Netscape, I'm sure mine's different, but you can figure it out! Joann Kevin K. Joann-- I hit the reply button with your message open, and it put the list's address in. You may need to refresh my memory on what you think I need to change a setting on. I haven't clued Gerry in on joining up, but I guess I should. I'll forward this to her and see if she wants to(probably will). By the way, I note with a great deal of interest your mention of a Milton Rudd with descendancy from Johnson through Barak, as I am descended. I look forward to hearing from him. Since I've not heard of him before, I'm guessing he's descended through one of Alonzo's siblings, so I REALLY want to hear from him. There are a lot of gaps I need to fill in on Alonzo's siblings' families, some of whom stayed in Illinois and some of whom moved to Oklahoma. I have pictures of the Rudd Brothers (Alonzo, Charles, and William), and some of the sisters (Amy Barringer, Adelia Parrent, and Sophronia Maxson), so I imagine we may have photos to trade. If I don't hear from him in the next few days, I'll ask you for his snail-mail address. Kevin. -----Original Message----- From: Joann H. Hi, Rhonda, Have you ever found your John Oliver Rudd in the 1900 census? Since you know the town and county in which he was born; you might luck out and find him with parents in that census. Best to check the Soundex first. Good luck, Joann Nichols [email protected] wrote: > I am searching for the parents and other ancestors of John Oliver Rudd born > June 26,1897 in Eagle Bend, Todd Co., MN and Married Florene Elizabeth Foster > on Jun 27, 1923. Hey Cousin Sherry! Thanx for the response. We just have so many relatives we never heard of !! >You are sooooo right on the neat! I have found more RUDD family online >than any other line. You are my half-3rd cousin, if I figured right. I guess you are right about the link. For sure we had the same Great-Great-Grandfather so I guess that makes us 3rd cousins with different great-great-Grandmothers. I had a long distance phone call the other day from a lady I went to high school with (yes I can still remember that far back-hehe) who was asking about information I might have about her grandmother (Mandie Richards). This lady's maiden name was Carolyn Richards. You know her? Are you from Florida also? This stuff can really be exciting at times. Harry
