Dear Donna, My Abner Pace (1821-22--1880to1900) was bondsman to a REED marriage in Rowan on 28 Oct 1856. Abner Pace was married to JULIA ANN REED (1825-27--1911) in Guilford NC in 1843, and I suspect that Julia Ann Reed was in some way related to the groom, William Emory C. REED (1823--?); he married SUSANNA "SUE" BEVINS/BEVINGS (1829--1887Liberty, Davie Co., NC). WILLIAM EMORY C. REED was the son of NATHAN & MARY (COTTRELL) REID, who married in 1833 in Guilford Co. Susanna Bevins was the twin to MARTHA ANN 'MAT' BEVINS (1829-1864) who married James Addison Banks in 1858 in Davie Co.NC. The children of W. E.C. Reid/Reed were: Mary Josephine (1858?) m. David Granger Nathan W. (1860-1862) William - (no dates) m. Kate Moore (source of this is the "Heritage Book of Rowan Co., article 265, "John Marion Bivins," p. 224. The article was written by Marilyn L. Bivins, who I tried to contact by postal mail but got no reply.) Abner Pace had been orphaned and apprenticed (age 16) in Guilford in 1837 to saddlemakers Hiatt & Jean. After he married Julia Ann Reed in Guilford, they moved to Salisbury, Rowan Co., and had one child, JOHN FLETCHER PACE (1844-1901), who was Police Chief of Salisbury at the time of his death in 1901. I have never been able to find the names of the parents of Abner Pace or of JULIA ANN REED.
