    1. Thomas Anthony Family- pre-RW War Surry/Wilkes
    2. Hello All, I am a double descendant of James MARTIN, b. 1700, and Elizabeth CRAWFORD. Three of their children moved to Surry/Wilkes. Prior to or about the time of the RW, the Thomas ANTHONY, David MARTIN and William Terrell LEWIS families moved to Surry/Wilkes area. David MARTIN did not survive the RW. His wife, Mary, maiden name unknown, but may have been MARTIN, survived and married Jonathan HAINES. I have lots of information about the LEWIS family, little about the ANTHONY family. I would appreciate knowing the children and spouses of Thomas ANTHONY m. Elizabeth MARTIN. This family was in Albemarle originally, which later became Amherst, and still later, Nelson Co., VA. David MARTIN's land was near the Iron Works, and wound up, I believe in Surry Co. William Terrell LEWIS's land was in Wilkes, and I don't know where the ANTHONY property wound up. I have only a list of names of the ANTHONY children: David Sarah Kezziah Millia James William John I would LOVE to know what became of this family. I descend through David and his wife Mary, and also through Sarah "Sallie" MARTIN and William Terrell LEWIS. LEWIS records are very easy to find, and I've found only sparse records for David MARTIN. I do know that David had 3 sons, Salathiel, Obadiah and Joseph. Salathiel was granted administration of his father's estate, and later deeded to Obadiah. The brother Joseph comes from the Draper Manuscripts, and from a deed in Henry Co., VA. Any questions, hints, facts, records would be so welcome at this point!! I believe that David MARTIN may have had more children. The primogeniture laws would have given Salathiel, the eldest son, the property. Salathiel deeded to Obadiah, but, so far as I've been able to determine, to no other. I feel that the ANTHONY family may hold the keys to some of the unsolved questions of this family, and really hope to learn more about them. The slightest clue would be welcome, and very much appreciated. Shirley
