    1. John Lewis Beard (Johan Ludwig Barth) and his wife Christina Schnepp (Snapp)
    2. Is anyone researching John Lewis Beard and his wife Christine Snapp? In my research on the Schenpp's (Snapp) of Rowan Co., NC, I find many references to John Lewis Beard in family documents. From the information I have found pertaining to him in Carolina Cradle by Robert W. Ramsey and The Heritage and History of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church Vol. I, ed. Martha Withers Agner, co-ed Martha Hines Morehead, he arrived in Rowan Co., NC sometime around 1755 (naturalized in Rowan Co in July 1755). Arriving at the Port of Phildelphia 19 September 1749 (age unknown, but had to be over 16). He married Christina Schnepp (marriage date unknown). The daughter of Johannes and Barbara Schnepp of Frederick Co., VA. Christina was born 17 May 1737 at Opequon creek settlement. Their first child, a son, named Lewis Beard, was born 13 August 1755 in Salisbury. (Christina only 18 at the time of the birth) One question I am looking for answers about is why and how Christina came to be living in Rowan Co., NC near or with her Uncle Lorentz Schnepp and his family. The other children of Johannes remained in Virginia. (The St. John's History mistakenly list Christine as the sister of Lorentz Schnepp of Rowan Co, although he was her uncle. Her brother Lorentz, remained in Frederick Co., VA, married Margaret Stephens, and died there in 1782). If anyone has further information about John Lewis Beard and Christina Schnepp which could help clarify their early history I would like to hear from you. Charmaine
