I don't have any Locks in my ancestry that I am aware of yet, but I do have family connections to the name. As you are aware, I'm sure, there are many references to this name in Rowan County and even a Locke Township. My great-great grandfather was Giles Rary (Rarey) who married Lucinda Rice in Rowan County and they lived out their lives there. One of their children was Doc Rary who married Frances Wyoming Myers. They named one of their sons, Cletus Locke Rary and I have always been curious about the person he was named for. In any of your information, do you find any references to Rary/Rarey or any variation of the name? Early ancestors came from Germany thru PA and the name was spelled Roerig and Roehrig. You referenced "Lookin' for Lockes", Nov 94.......is this a book? If so, is it available for purchase and from whom? Thank you, Peggy Rary Crane Caldwell County NC
