The Yadkin River valley actually extends from the Boone, North Wilksboro area downstream to the High Rock Lake area. (Salisbury-Rowan County). The Yadkin does streach on further through the light mountain areas around Badin lake but you don't much hear the downstream areas called the Yadkin Valley. Around the North Wilksboro, Roaring River (a small community) and eastward (downstream) you are in an apparent valley. The Yadkin River basin is the second largest river basin in NC. Only the Cape Fear River basin is larger. There is a website http://h2o.enr.state.nc.us/ that might interest most of you. This memo is not geneology related but it may help folks not from NC to understand the lay of the land in these here parts.
