    1. HUFF/DANNER/TANNER
    2. I am in hope someone may be able to offer a suggestion to help me solve a problem. I am trying to find proof of the marriage of Mary HUFF to George DANNER/TANNER. I have some evidence, but not proof and I don't know what to do next - guess that is the proverbial brick wall. Here is what I do have: >From Mr. Kluttz's Deed Book Page 898 (I have actual deed) 15 Oct. 1803 Charles HUNTER and John SANE as heirs and adm. of Valentine HUFF and as attorneys-in-fact of Valentine HUFF and Jacob ROLAND who were heirs of said Valentine, which power was granted on 27 Aug. 1802 as registered in deed book 18 at page 676 and said HUNTER as attorney-in-fact- of Henry HUFF, who was also an heir of said Valentine, which power was granted on 21 May 1801 as registered in deed book 18 at page 675, and George TANNER to William MOORE for $10,0000, 319 3/4 A on Forks of Yadkin River on Bear Creek adj. STUART. I also have from a History of Macoupin County, Illinois the statement that George DONNER Sr.'s wife was a HUFF from Frederick County, Md. (Valentine indeed came to Rowan from Frederick County). I also can prove from land records that the spouse of George DONNER Sr. was named MARY. To further muddy the waters I then found a marriage record on-line for a Mary HUFF to Benjamin HARRISON in Rowan county 4 Oct. 1774. Thomas HUFF was the Bondsman. The first child I know of that belonged to George and Mary DONNER, Sr. was also named Mary born 2 May 1778, so Mary HUFF could have md. twice. I just don't know where else to look for a marriage record for George & Mary. Any suggestions will be most welcome. Thanks so much. Jo Ann Schmidt
