I've lurked around this list for months, just because you have shared such good good info . . . now I have a new clue on something I can ask! :-) My ancestors Alexander and Mary McIntosh went from North Carolina to western Kentucky in 1828. I have lots of descendant info, but have NOTHING on Alexander and/or Mary's parents. I've had hints that something could be found in Salisbury. Finally, someone with a tad bit more, tho not much, info: "In NC the McCovings or McCovens or McBbns (??) files in Salisbury has Alexander's family record" and "his father was possiblity a 'Simon', but not sure". Anybody have some further hints on what these files in Salisbury could refer to? If "Simon" is a possible name for Alexander's father, it doesn't seem to fit, because it is never carried on to his descendants. Would love to find help from anybody who is a lot closer to Salisbury than I am--about 3,000 miles . . . Thanks...Joy
