Can anyone who is familiar with the territory mentioned in the following land descriptions tell me where this area would be on todays map of NC? Surely this territory became part of Old Rowan. Where was Mt Pleasant, the Indain wells, the Hight Bluff and the Saw Mill? I would appreciate any information about the location, the man John MacKnight, his orgin, his residence, his family, his neighbors at this location and whether he settled here or not. MCKNIGHT 1082 pg. 247 JOHN MACKNIGHT 5 March 1729 640acres in Bath County on the S.W. side of the North West branch of the Cape Fear river at a place commonly called Mount Pleasant, joining the river. 1083 pg. 248 JOHNMACKNIGHT 5 march 1729 320 acres in Bath County on the S.W. side of the N.W. branch of Cape Rear river at a place called Indian Wells being a high bluff about seven miles above the Saw Mill, joining the river.
