I don't know where the surname "Ferebee" comes from, but it may have something to do with the 18th century popular girl's name "Ferebee" (sometimes "Pheriba"). "Feree" is probably a variant spelling of "Ferry", which shows up as a French Protestant name in 1600s France. (I don't know if it's technically Huguenot.) A minister named Paul Ferry was a friend of the prominent Catholic priest, Father Bossuet. Elizabeth Whitaker
