It was divided into Chowan, Currituck, Pasquotank, and Perquimans precincts by 1668 and ceased to exist by 1689. The name Albemarle Co. , however, was still used for that section of NC for many years; the precincts above are counties today. Bath Co. was formed in 1696 and included areas on both sides of the Pamlico River which flows into Pamlico Sound. It was divided into Archdale, Pamptecough, and Wickham precincts in 1705.
