I'm researching the couple listed above. They married in either Rowan or Stanly county but I can't find a record of the marriage. They had eight children before Sarah died, sometime before 1899. Josiah then married Leah YOST (I have a copy of that marriage record) and moved the family to Texas. Josiah was the son of Nancy CARTER (don't know if that's maiden or married name) and unknown father and they were enumerated in the 1850 census with Edmund Lilly's family. Then they disappear. They haven't been located in any subsequent census record until Josiah shows up in Texas. Sarah was the daughter of Eli Lefler and Mary Jane Pennington. Her father was killed at Gettysburg in 1863. That's the extent of my knowledge of Sarah other than the information above. Is there anyone with any more information about this couple? TPaplanus@aol.com
