My grandmother was Nora Cordella CAVINESS (4-17-1884 to 5-21-1963). She married James Bully DENNIS (of Montgomery Co, NC) in 1904 in Guilford Co NC. Her obituary and death certificate said that her father was Andrew CAVINESS. Her mother was Mary Elizabeth ? (1867-1939) Nora C. CAVINESS had a sister named Gola Ellen CAVINESS (1887-1957) who married Thomas STONE in 1911. They these children: Aubrey Cecil STONE b1912, Elmer Dewitt STONE b 1914, Kenneth STONE b1916, Violet STONE b1919, Sybil STONE b1922, Iris STONE b 1925. There may have also been a brother named Jim CAVINESS. Mary Caviness also married Oren Daniel ELKINS and had several more children including: Lizzie Florence Elkins born 7/13/1895 in Carvonton, Moore Co Lacy ELKINS and Fannie ELKINS possibly other children.
