I have two deed entries for a Joshua Sikes that read: (1) Deed Bk 6, page 175, 20 Oct 1778, Edward Brown gave 3 acres on the east side of great Coheary to the Baptist Church. Joshua Sikes' name appears at the bottom. This is in Sampson Co. deed but I'm told it's a part of Rowan Co. now. (2) Deed Bk 8, page 264, 22 Mar 1788, William Murphrey gave 2 acres on the west side of Revels Marsh to Joshua Sikes, Sr., Trustee of the Marsh Branch Meeting House. Are either of these two churches still in existence? If they are, does anyone have addresses where I could write and have the church records searched for Joshua's family?
