Here are the children of the original James Gheen, a settler in Rowan Co. NC, who probably came down from Chester, PA. He was a cabinetmaker. The Gheen forum at genforum seems to feel that the name was originally Goheen, but I think that is just one possibility. I know the Geohagen name comes from Dublin and Galway. Some researchers think the father of James Gheen (1735-1796) was a Thomas Gheen of West Bradford Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania James Gheen (c.1735-1796) m. Elizabeth?
