Rick, have you found a link between this Black (Schwarz) family and the Black (Swartz) family in the Shenandoah Valley in the mid 1700s? Martin Black (Swartz) had three sons - Martin, John and Peter. I've hit a hard wall in finding where Martin came from. Peter Swartz, Sr., his son, is my line and married Susannah Patton - another brickwall. Dorothy "Fredric Z. While it was known that Sarah was the daughter of Stephen GREIFF [GREIF], her mother was unknown. It has been learned that her mother was Sibilla RABENSTOCK [REBENSTOCK / RAVENSTOCK], daughter of John/Johannes RABENSTOCK of Germantown, Philadelphia Co., PA. Details from the pages below. No, I do not know of any connection. My BLACK/SCHWARZ line went directly from Northampton Co., PA to Surry (now Forsyth) Co., NC, and then moved a few miles to Rowan (now Davie) County. To All: I am interested in contacting anyone who is researching any of the Harrell, Herrell, Harrold etc. lines who moved to western NC between 1750 and 1800. I am especially interested in Hugh Harrold, Herrell, Harrell who may also be connected to the Davis families who migrated to that area from Northern VA or Pa after 1750. My proven line is John Herrell b. 1795 in probably Burke co., thought to be son of Hugh Herrell etc. and Rebecka Lakin who were married in Rockingham or Rowan Co. abt. 1784. The record is in Salisbury, NC. Would also like to contact any Harrell, Herrell, Harrold etc. who has had the DNA test done on a proven line from Burke, Yancey, Mitchell or other nearby county. All Discussion, Information, Clues are Appreciated! Thanks, G. Lee Hearl Authentic Appalachian Storyteller Abingdon, Va.
