Well, these people had more urgencies to worry about than their family trees, urgencies such as watching out for Indians, clearing land, raising crops, fighting the British, organizing their own governments and militia, etc., etc., etc. Each family may have kept their own records but there was no central repository of records which you and i, at this late date, could easily research. So, we dig, and dig, and dig, and then repeat. My WILLIS clan has resisted cursory digging. If I really took the time and knew where to look I might find more. I think they came down from Virginia, where they came from before that I don't know - I suppose they're English. This is what I have.
