    1. [RowanRoots] Using LDS Family History Centers for NC Research
    2. For those Rowan Co. (and other places) researchers who are near LDS family history centers, an excellent resource for your research are the films held by the Family History Library at Salt Lake City. These films can generally be borrowed through the LDS FHC for a small fee. The listed books cannot be borrowed, but occasionally an author will permit his publication to be filmed. Perhaps the book can be borrowed through your public library on interlibrary loan. Not always, as genealogical books seldom circulate, with some exceptions. Back to the FHC and FHL holdings. Use the website www.familysearch.org. Look for a tab which says Custom Search. This brings up a list of items, but look for Family History Library Catalog. Click on Place when the opportunity comes up on your screen. Type in Rowan and then North Carolina. A blue lined link will eventually come up. Click on that. Now you are on your own. Marriages are not listed under marriage but under Vital Records. The library has 300 reels of Rowan Co. deeds alone. Save your eyesight. Good luck in finding an LDS FHC near you. Telephone for hours and days when it is open. They are run by volunteers--not paid staff. Many are NOT genealogists so don't expect great revelations. Do LOTS of homework.
