I am trying to locate my g-g-grandfather Francis Marion Cunningham who married my g-g-grandmother Margaret Gaither 6/17/1855 in Davie County, NC. Margaret Gaither lived in Rowan County, the daughter of Isam Gaither. I know Francis went by his middle name Marion because he is referred to some family records by his middle name. Francis Asberry Cheshire posted the wedding bond. C. Harbin was their witness. My g-grandmother Mary Jane Cunningham was born in 1859 in Rowan County. In 1861, her sister Clementine was born, listing Franklin Thomas Cunningham as the father. I can only assume Francis Marion was killed or died sometime between 1859 and 1861. Margaret's little sister Nancy married a Rubin Cunningham 12/20/1863. I have been unable to trace these Cunningham branches so far. . I am assuming they must be related some how.
