Dear Debbie, I am not sure whether I have replied to this or not--I have been having a lot of trouble with my hard drive. My MARGARET SMITH (1806-1895) was married to ISAAC EARNHART (1807-1846). Her father was JOHN SMITH (1780-1812) married to POLLY (MARY?) BRYAN. His father was PETER SMITH JR (around 1760?) and his father was PETER SCHMIDT (around 1740?)--the dates here on the two Peters are my estimates only to allow for generations. One of the Peters was probably the Peter Smith who died in 1767). All of this was in Rowan Co., NC. My information came from a genealogist in the Rowan History Room, and I have no documentation in my possession. It is possible that my Smith/Schmidt line were Moravians originally.
