I haven't done any indepth research into the Goodman line so I cannot definitely determine if this may be the case, although I think that Michael and Christopher Gulhmann eventually were in olf Tryon, Lincoln Co, and the name was anglacized to Goldman. The Goldman family moved into southern Indiana about 1817 - 19, with a large group of loosely related families who lived in Lincoln, Catawba, Burke Co., NC, and many had originated from the German settlement families in old Rowan. This question probably needs some indepth digging into old court records, deeds, land transactions, etc., to more accurately determine which surname Gulhmann may have evolved to in it's anglicized translation.
