Betty, If your cousin Thomas reported to Thomas Jefferson (say, circa 1800) he must have been in his 80s when he helped Booth in 1865, and then lived in England for a while and later worked in a hotel in DC when possibly in his 90s; is this right?     3. Dear Gary, Bill is right. I meant Jefferson Davis. He was a spy working for Jefferson Davis. A Mr. Hall wrote a book about this man & his connection to John Wilkes Booth. The freeing of the slaves affected the labor force for the raising of tobacco. a common source of money of the times.
