In June of 1999, I posted the following message to the Cabarrus Co. NC Query Forum: "JULIA ANN REED was born I believe in Cabarrus (Concord), NC 1823-25. We do not know the name of her parents, but since the name of her only child was JOHN FLETCHER PACE, we think perhaps her father might have been a JOHN REED or a FLETCHER REED. In 1843 JULIA ANN REED married ABNER PACE in Guilford Co., NC, and they moved to Rowan Co. NC. At the time of the 1870 Rowan census a 36-year-old CATHERINE (or a M. CATHERINE--illegible) REED,[ born around 1836] was living with Abner and Julia Pace in Rowan Co., NC. She is probably Julia Ann's sister." (revised slightly) The following response to my above query was posted on 19 March 2000: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/Cabarrus/?read=940 QUOTE: "SUBJECT; REED Posted by Monica <mcrayton@vnet.net> on Sun. 19 Mar 2000 Surname: CRAYTON, LITTLE, DRAKE, MCLAIN, HARVELL JOHN REED, owner of the Cabarrus Co. I know there was a Henry Reed whose unnamed wife died in Guilford Co. NC (Patriot article) in 1842. Could he be tied to the Cabarrus Reeds? I knew there was a Reed gold mine in Rowan Co. but I had not been aware of one also in Cabarrus Co. NC.
