In answer to your question about GEDcom files and what it means. GEDcom stands for GEnealogical Data COMmunication (GEDCOM) which is the standard format for transferring genealogical files from one genealogical supported computer program to another. It was developed by the Family History Dept. of the Church of Latter-day Saints (LDS). Basically, what this means is, that you have to have a genealogy program loaded into your computer to send or receive a gedcom file. This enables you to format all or part of your data files to be sent to any other computer that has a program that can read your file. Or recieve and download a gedcom program, which can be read by your computer genealogy software. The Help window on your genealogy program has step by step instructions on how to export (send) and import (receive) gedcoms files. Hope this helps.
