The first immigrant in my family was Wilhelm Jans. He was a Palatine immigrant from Oberalben Rheinland-Pfalz. He came to Pennsylvania on the ship Winter Galley in 1738 and signed his own name.He lists his age as 24. He paid taxes in Berks Co. Pennsylvania in 1767 and 1768 and migrated at some point to Rowan Co. N.C. where he was instrumental in establishing the Pilgrim's Reformed Church. He died in Rowan or Davidson Co.N.C. abt.1778.He married Susannah? abt 1740 probably in Pa.They had 4 known children Katherine b. 1742 Rudolph(Ludolph) 1750 William 1752 and Mary. The family name has changed to Yants/Younce/Younts/ and Yonts Any information on this family or any connected family would be greatly appreciated.
