A thought on the ages - it may be that the children were past the ages now used because if they had no regular pastor, when a traveling minister came, all would be confirmed. A good guess is over those ages at least. I know this happened in other areas where there was no regular ministers. So knowing if the church had a regular supply pastor might make a difference.
