Hi I have a copy of Carolina Cradle... Here is a short blurb about a KING family pg. 128 of Carolina Cradle Settlement of the Northwest Carolina Frontier 1747-1762 Author Robert W. Ramsey "The King and Lawrence families originated in New Jersey. Richard King, a clotheir, was born in Ireland, near Dublin. He migrated ot America in 1728, settling first in Phildelphia. In 1735, following the death of his first wife, King married Margaret Barclay in Middlesex or Summerset County, New Jersey. Described as a 'short , thick man, quick in manner and temper.' King removed to Carolina in 1755 or 1756 and settled with his sons James and Robert on the waters of Wilthrow's Creek.
