William Russell in 1774 to scout along the Warriors Path during the Indian uprisings of that year and to locate the River which was the line between Va. lands and the Cherokees (Ky-Tn line). At the time William Herrell lived on the Clinch River near Wm. Russell. They were gone 21 days, traveling on foot. For proof read Russells letters to Campbell and others.
