John and Eva were married on Apr 19, 1751 at Moden Creek (now Muddy Creek) in Lancaster, PA. It appears that John arrived at Philadelphia in 1747 (ship Two Brothers), 1748 (ship Hampshire) or 1749 (ship Edinburgh) from Rotterdam. John's name was Johannes Adam. Possibly he made repeated trips bringing family to Pennsylvania. It is not immediately possible to know for sure as only the male passengers are identified. I do not know yet whether John had married Miss Hunter before or after his arrival in Philadelphia. Eva's father Peter Schmidt arrived in Philadelphia in 1732 (ship Johnson Galley of London) from Rotterdam. Peter's name was Johannes Peter Schmidt (Peder Schmitt). On Mar 26, 1734, Peter received a warrant for 100 ac of land in Lancaster Co, PA located between Cocalico and Muddy Creek (near Rte 272 and Muddy Creek Road). Peter Smith appeared in the Bethel Twp tax rolls for 1750 and 1751. For 1756 he is listed as "fled". Because of Indian problems, many of the people in that area "fled". In 1759,there is a Peter Smith listed in the Rowan Co, NC tax rolls. ______________________________
