Hi Larry, The only Potts Creek (north and south branches) I can find is east of the Yadkin River, near [north of] the Trading Ford; this from the map in Ms. Jo white Linn's "Tax Lists of 1757-1800". The Bryan Settlement was quite a bit north, maybe 20-30 miles [depending on whether you're a crow or afoot], and is on the west side of the river, near the Shallow Ford. The Lagle map is available through the Davie Co. Historical Society. I'm sure their address is available online. What relationship to the Bryan Settlement are you pursuing? Did your William Coates have a daughter Charity who m. Runyon?
