    1. Marriages Lookups
    2. Billy, I have been reluctant to ask because you have had so many requests. I commend you for being so willing to help others. I would appreciate any marriage info in Surrey Co., only, for Barbee, Garner, Locke, Brandon, and Worke. If there are too many, let me know, and I will try the Library of Congress which is about an hour from me. Thanks. John

I subscribe to all of the lists in digest mode, scan through them for information that interests me, then delete all of the day's emails with one delete. >> That's an excellent suggestion because then you can "find in top window" your surnames. Also an excellent idea for vacations to cut down on the number of emails!

    1. Cane and Kutch in Rowan County
    2. Gary Rolph
    3. Were Adoph Cane and Phoebe King in North Carolina in the 1790's? These two were supposed to have ben married in VA, then moved to NW North Carolina and later to Kentucky. Their daughter, Elizabeth Cane, perhaps married the boy Adolph and Phoebe helped raise -- John Kutch. One source has John Kutch and Elizabeth Cane married 1804 in NW North Carolina; another source has them married in Lincoln, KY. Thanks for any information you can share. Gary Rolph

    3. Looking for information on descendants of Johannes Zaher (John Sears). The Rowan County Heritage quoters a note "From the Pickler File" No. L148 "Feb 12, 1780 'Ordered that Ralph Pickett of Hopewell District, Be released from a 4 fold tax to a single tax -- and that Nicholas Leatherman, John Seares, and Ztian Leathermann, Dunkers in the same District, be released from a 12 fold tax to a 3 f old tax" & c." Are Dunkers Moravians? John died in the Yadkin Valley, Rowan County, before 1800. Two sons that I know of: Christian and John, who both moved to Kentucky about 1800. I have seen the pamphlet on the Sears family which is in the Vertical File at Rowan Library. Anyone done any other work on this family? Looking for birth, death, ancestry, marriage dates and to whom, and children. Thanks. GAry Rolph

    2. When I hear all of you discussing the Look-ups that have been taking place the last few days, I am aware there are those of you out there who have been doing this so long that you think the Rowanroots belongs to your little group who have enjoyed passing individual information back and forth. Not all but many of you have forgotten what it is like to be a beginner in this family look up business and how exciting it would have been to have had hundreds of marriages to look through from the one town you knew could be the place. So you don't find it! You move on, Remember when you got all excited and then the let down and then another year goes by and one day what if some crazy fellow put on the internet hundreds of marriages again and you found it. Wow what a day. Not much fun for those who looked and lost but it is worth it if only one person found a match and there were many. I thought it was an exciting few days but I doubt if very many more people will be of much help for all the h... you catch for trying... 3. I've been relatively quiet, but we've exausted this topic. A majority want this information. He has permission. The list manager said it was okay. Now, let the majority rule, and let's get on with genealogy and not what only a few don't want. We can all benefit from one another without this bickering. Enough said.....genealogy anyone??? BETH

If I could find information like the marriage look ups that would benefit so many I would post it to the list and overlook the complaints. They are just part of life and make me appreciate the sunshine that much more. There will never be more than two people in a group that will not have different opinions sooner or later. I joined this list at the beginning of the lookups and I love it. So many happy and helpful people here and my request for Barnes was not found but that's okay. Like you said, "maybe a year from now" or maybe tomorrow? Take Care, Sandy

    1. All About Taters
    2. Conquest Music
    3. ALL ABOUT TATERS ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Some people are very bossy and like to tell others what to do, but don't want to soil their own hands. They are called "Dick Taters." Some people never seem motivated to participate, but are just content to watch while others do the work. They are called "Speck Taters." Some people never do anything to help, but are gifted at finding fault with the way others do the work. They are called "Comment Taters." Some people are always looking to cause problems by asking others to agree with them. It is too hot or too cold, too sour or too sweet. They are called "Agie Taters." There are those who say they will help, but somehow just never get around to actually doing the promised help. They are called "Hezza Taters." Some people can put up a front and pretend to be someone they are not. They are called "Emmy Taters." Then there are those who love and do what they say they will. They are always prepared to stop whatever they are doing and lend a helping hand. They bring real sunshine into the lives of others. They're called "Sweet Taters." Billy, I forgot to take a number so hope you still have my Berger/Barrier/Berriers on your things to do list. lol This would be pre 1800. Thanks much Stephanie
