    2. Elaine, here is what I found. Rowan had no PARISH/PARRISH males issued bonds. Surry had one which follows: Marriages of Surry County, NC 1779-1868 compiled by Brent H. Holcomb Genealogical Publishing Company Baltimore, MD Copyright by Genealogical Publishing, Inc. 1982 pg 156 PARRISH, W.W. & Sally PAUNE, 24 December 1863; Wm. SPENCER, bondsman; married 24 December 1863 by Wm. GOLDEN, J.P. The only Rowan Rachel TUCKER married a FISHER in 1821. No Susannah or Elizabeth PARRISH. I did find this in the Rowan book: WRIGHT, Isom & Lane PARRISH, 21 December 1820; Ezekiel PARRISH, bondsman; P. COPPLE, J.P. wit. Nothing was found in the Surry book. Billy

    3. If the only sources I ever had to look in were the ones that had *MY* information in them, I would have been through a long time ago and not wasted the last twenty-five years out of thirty. Believe me, I've culled a lot of chaff to get at the grain. One never knows where a relevant surname will show up. When I pick up a book I look at the index from A to Z, not just the names which come to mind. There may be one I forgot. Use the *delete* button or set up filters. Bill T

    3. I thought the purpose of these lists was to share genealogical information. I don't remember seeing any restrictions on the number of posts per day. This complaint seems to appear on all lists periodically. I suspect that it is not the number of posts but the fact that their family is not represented that is causing the frustration. I personally have never understood why there was time to fire off a long complaint letter when the delete button could have been used profitably during that same amount of time. The suggestion of using digest form seems logical.Even though I didn't request any lookups, I want to thank Billy for his willingness to share his time and information. How much easier for him to have used the books for his own research, returned them--instead he sought permission to use the sources , took his time/effort to benefit others. I usually ignore these 'interludes', but felt compelled to express my support of list sharing. If posts are private, webpaged, or, if people feel intimidated about posting, then the purpose of the these lists is lost. Just my opinion, Jackie At 06:21 PM 9/27/99 -0400, Barney Barnhardt wrote: > >>Good for you!! 3. I am looking for information on David Hendricks b. 1734 d. Feb 12, 1788 and wife Margaret (1732 - 1801). I have from secondary sources that she was Margaret Pillsbury. Does anyone have proof of this? I also have from secondary sources that David Hendricks' father was Tobias Hendricks from Maryland. Is this correct and how do we know? I have three of the children of David Hendricks: 1. David b. May 21, 1761 d. Dec. 20, 1820 m. Mary (possibly Mary Hill). 2. Henry 3. Sarah (my ancestor) b. ca. 1775 who married David Baity on June 20, 1798. They lived in what is now the northern part of Davie County. I would like to find out whatever anyone can add on this family and their origins. Thanks, John Barnes

I want to add my comments: Thank you VERY much for all the inordinate and extraordinary work and time you generously and altruistically donated to those of us who, without access to the book, yet were given the rich opportunity to avail ourselves of its content, at least as it pertained to each of us who were interested. Thank you, again and again. Cookie, in Florida

    3. For those people who do not care to be inundated with individual emails from the list, why don't you subscribe in digest mode? I subscribe to all of the lists in digest mode, scan through them for information that interests me, then delete all of the day's emails with one delete. Sure, you're going to be somewhat behind the conversation of the those who get each post individually, but it's tidier. IMHO, the importance of the list is the genealogical information that is posted. There is little as frustrating as seeing your ancestor's name and no information. The reason for the lookup requests is because some of us don't have access to the materials and may never have the opportunity to get a hold of them. I say keep them coming. My Rowan County ancestors include: James Orton who married Sarah Vanderford; William M. Hancock and Margaret Dettero Clemmer; Jacob Cloninger, Sr. and Elizabeth Clemmer (Hancock) who lived in what became Lincoln Co., NC. I'm also interested in the Bryans who were associated with the Ortons. Jean K.
