    3. I have just posted responses to the Rowan US Gen Web site for two names that I have found also repeating on Rowan Roots. However, I don't think the e-mail addresses on US Gen Web Rowan site are current and these people will not be notified of my posting. These bounced messages were to: Gloria W. Brown - brownmw@bellsouth.net Lisa Henderson - davidlisa@gib.kensco.net I would ask that these people advise of their current e-mail addresses. 2. There were some Deadmans living in Evansville, IN back in 1937-42, maybe earlier and later, but I went to Hebron Grade School with a girl, Billie Jean (?) Deadman, who would now be about 70 years old. For what it's worth. I love this genealogy! Cookie, in Florida

    3. 1. James Orton married Jane Bryan in 1747 in PA. He was born in 1725 in PA and died in 1777 in Rowan Co., NC. She was born abt. 1727 in PA and died aft. 1777 in Rowan Co., NC. (I don't believe I've ever seen any documentation that Jane's maiden name was Bryan, though.) 2. Joseph Orton married Jannet Bryan on September 2, 1780 in Rowan Co., NC. He was born in 1758 and died in 1807 in Rowan Co. She was born 1759 and died in 1808 in Rowan Co. 3. John Orton married Jane Bryan on May 26, 1770 in Rowan Co., NC. 4. Rebecca Orton married John Bryan, Jr. on August 26, 1774 in Rowan Co., NC. She was born in 1754 and died aft. 1829. He was born in 1751 and died before August 1781. Joseph, John, and Rebecca Orton were siblings and children of No. 1 above. John, Jannet, and Jane were siblings and the children of John Bryan, Sr. and Sarah (maiden name unknown). I believe that James who married Jane (No. 1 above) was the James Orton of Lurgan and Chester, PA. Looking for more information on this bunch. Any help would be greatly appreciated. They're a mess. Jean K.

And finally finding that our Greatest Grandfather stole rum along with the son of an Ipswich house builder, got drunk, was captured by the police and later married the daughter of the Massachusetts master to whom he was indentured in the 1600's would not have been a surprise. You see, that is what I found out. Who would have "thunk it".... :) LOL :) Richard Yell in Mebane, NC

    3. Dear Jean, Do you have any record of a POLLY (MARY?) BRYAN (31 Oct 1784--21 Apr 1843)? In April 1804, she married JOHN SMITH (1780-1812) in Rowan Co., NC; he was of the Peter Smith/Schmidt line in Rowan. At the death of John Smith in 1812, she remarried a JACOB WEANT and I can't find any further information on her--perhaps they left Rowan Co. The information I have on her comes from the Rowan History Room. The daughter of John Smith and Polly Bryan Smith was MARGARET SMITH (1806-1895), married to ISAAC EARNHART in 1822 in Rowan Co.
