These are the some additional North Carolina surnames, though not specifically Rowan County ones. Since so many delete messages without a name in the subject, I will try these major ones again.

Either you mistyped one of the dates, or misfugured, as he would have been about age 30 in 1795 if born 1765. "Entered" means that he placed with the land office a loose description of the 200 acres on which he wanted to acquire a grant. If he followed through, there would have been a warrant issued to the surveyor to survey the land, the survey of the land, and finally a grant. In some cases the entry could be abandoned by the person, or they could sell the warrant to another person that could be the person that eventually acquired the grant. I have an ancestor , James B. Meredith, who entered 200 ac in Surry Co on Pheasant Br; Border; James Downey. Jan 13, 1795. I believe that he was born in 1765. This would make him twenty years old. Is this an age appropiate at this time for entering land? Also does enter land mean buying land or maybe inheriting land? Thank You Marla

Dennis & Selina, Who are your Redmans and where they in Buncombe Co.? Thanks, Sandy in Southern Los Angeles County
Hi Rowan county rooters, I can't recall which of you I have corresponded with who live in the Rowan Co or nearby areas, but wanted to tell you I am coming to NC. On Saturday, I will go to Greensboro, where our daughter is participating in an artist showcase at the Saltbox from 6 to 9 that evening. On Sunday I plan to come to Clemmons area. I will once again visit the cemetery at Mt Pleasant, connect with some friends I have never actually met in person while there, and will probably be there on Monday and Monday night. This little laptop goes with me wherever I go, so feel free to email me at any time. I do so wish I could be in the area Wed night, as that is when the Forsyth Co Genealogical Society meets, but I can't stay around that long. My computer crashed last weekend after I had sent out my roll call for JAMES, JOHN, DAVID, EVAN, TOLLIVER, STEPHEN, THOMAS AND WILLIAM DAVIS. I had received a few DAVIS replies but only had a chance to glance over them before they were lost. Could any of your who did reply on Saturday or Sunday please send me the emails again. Thank you. There's a terrific Klutz book (Descendants of Jacob Klotz) in the N.C. state library in Raleigh: I'd buy a copy if I had the money. It's a very thorough description and delineation of the family from 1500s Germany onwards. Dora was from the area of the Union Co., NC - Cabarrus Co., NC border, as was her husband. (My grandfather Long was born in Brief, just barely inside Union County.) Her father was Julius Caesar Klutz, who had Confederate service. I have very little information on her family. (I haven't been able to get to the N.C. state library since 1995: Raleigh is a long way from eastern SC (where I used to live) and I'm now in extreme western SC, which is even further.)
