Otto Roth was in the Army in Germany before coming to the United States. The following information is from a little army issued book. It is written in German. The first page gives general information about him. He was born October 2, 1855 in Weibersbrunn, Aschaffenburg, Germany. His parents were Anton and Marianna Roth. His father was a glaser. They were Catholic, Otto was approx. 5'5" tall, had dark blonde hair, a long chin and a long nose. He entered the German Army Nov 7, 1876 as a member of the Infantry. From entries in the back of the book: I left home 21 Jan 1880 for America, arriving New York on 8 Feb 1880 I worked and got to St Louis 10 Mar 1880 (The date 1880 seems to have been changed from 1881). Other notes concern the births and deaths of his parents and children. He married Anna Marie Sailer in St. Louis. Very little else is known about him. Ruth Autrey Stubbs
