Researching surnames: Roth, Schwabenland, Winter Hi guys ! Just wanted to let you know about a web-site that my nephew and I just got up and running. It's... www.ancientfaces.com ...We started it with the intent of helping people put a 'face, to a name'.....so hopefully people will submit their old photos and share them with 'cousins' that have never seen what their ancestors look like ! Uploading is easy (and free) and there is also room for family stories and recipes. I have only a few Roth photos on their so far, but hope to get some more Roth's and Schwabenlands from my mother-in-law in the next week or so. There are also a few Winters' photos, and some of my mother-in-law's Volga-German recipes. Hope you enjoy it, and let's get some more Roth's on there! Pam marks San Jose, CA
Posted on: Roth Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/surnames/rot/Roth/150 Surname: Roth, Rothe ------------------------- Tabitha, Hi, While I was doing some research on my Family tree, one of the things that came up about the Roth Family Tree, was that Rothe was Later changed to Roth. My Father said that in Germany, Roth was spelled and pronounced Rothe and later chaged to Roth when coming to the United States. Maybe your family Kept the German spelling of Roth when coming over. Do you know what part of Europe they came from? My Family came from Germany in the 1800s' as well. Peter W. Roth was young boy when coming over and they settled in New York before coming West to Wisconsin. They settled in Watertown, Wisconsin. If you would like more information I will be glad to try to give you what I can. Sincerely, Joyce A. Allen

I too am looking for information regarding the Rothe family, It seems to be somewhat rare and because my great grandfather, Otto Rainier, disappeared at a young age and my grandfather Paul Walton, (although when he died we found that his birth certificate read Otto Paul) refused to talk about his heritage we are at a loss in researching the Rothe family. From what we do know, my grandfather lived in Wisconsin for a time and then spent the rest of his days in the Rolla, Missouri area. If any of this information rings a bell with anyone please let me know. I can be reached at MMD322@aol.com. Thanks Monique (Rothe) Denson

Posted on: Roth Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/surnames/rot/Roth/140 Surname: ROTH, BANGERT, THOMAS ------------------------- Suzanne - I am looking at Roths in Lancaster Co. PA also and I have a Joseph who married an Anna B. Thomas. I don't know about John, but there were 8 Roth children in the generation which I'm trying to track. Frank Roth, who married Gertrude Bangert, is the grandparent of the Joseph which I'm tracking, with Mary Roth being his mother with father being unknown. Jospeh was raised by Frank and Gertrude Roth. Joseph S. Roth (1872-1963) is buried in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Columbia beside his wife Anna B. (1876-1912). Also buried in that same Roth plot is Gertrude A. Roth (1903-1910), Carl Roth (1912-1912), Anna L. Roth (1881-1968), and Anna Roth Staples (1907-1958). If this is the same Joseph Roth (a paperhanger according to the city directories), please email me for more information on "Uncle Joey". Sharon Gable
