    3. Posted on: Roth Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/surnames/rot/Roth/10187 Surname: ROTH ------------------------- Hello Rene, Was going to ask where Monroe Co was, but just found it. {:-) My ROTHs lived in Pickaway Co. OH. which is in a direct westerly line from Monroe Co. My particular patriarch was Thomas Bradley ROTH b. 7 Aug 1810 in Berks Co. PA. He's registered at the First Reformed Church in Reading along with his sister Sophia b. 27 Mar 1813 (same location) and his parents, Paul & Catharine REITER_ROTH. He had two sons named Johnathan...13 children total. I haven't been able to find any other siblings for Thomas besides his sister, Sophia. He moved the family to Brocton, Edgar Co. IL. in 1853-54. That isn't too far from Danville...wondering if there might be a connection hiding somewhere? No Elmers, Samuels or Pearls in my ROTH line (so far), though there is a Samuel Pearl WALTON married to one of my ROTH gr-aunts. If you can find the time, please check out my ROTHs at my site to see if any related-by-marriage families look familiar to you. Thanks, Paul Link: Roth Family Home Page URL: <http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~paroth>

    3. Posted on: Roth Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/surnames/rot/Roth/10186 Surname: Samuel Roth Ohio to Illinois, Elmer Roth Illinois ------------------------- Looking for information on Samuel Roth born in Ohio (possible Monroe County but unsure) in 1852 to John Roth and unknown mother. Unsure of how many siblings he had but MAY have had brothers named Fredrick and Pearl--this is very sketchy though and possibly not accurate. Positive that he married Elizabeth Kincaid in 1876 in Monroe Co. Ohio and they moved to Danville Illinois. Elmer Roth was Samuel and Elizabeth's son and was born in Danville in 1877 and married Berda Osborne in 1900. They had four children that I am aware of, including my grandmother. Does anyone have any information regarding the above? It would be very much appreciated, thanks.

    3. Hello, List, This is my first post, so I will be brief. Louis Frederick Roth (b. uk, d. uk) married Mary Lee Curtis (b. 26 DEC 1892, d. uk). We believe he was born in Lexington, KY, but only because his sister, Frances, was born in Lexington, KY according to her marriage certificate on 24 FEB 1890. He moved to Virginia (Warwick County, now Newport News) and had three children, Mary Frances, George Anna (Georgianna?), my grandmother, and Louis Arthur Roth. Frances, Louis' sister, m. Morgan Clark Stembridge on 1 May, 1924 in Pittsburg, PA at the M. E. Church, and I believe moved eventually to CA (I think I have found her in the SSDI as d. in California in Oct 1966). Their children are Marguerite (b. 26Feb 1925), Gladys (b. 10 May 1927), and Frances (b. 10 May 1927 twins), all in Chase City, Virginia. Any help with my line would be appreciated. Bill

    3. HELP! My g-grandfather was Willoughby Robert RHOADS, b. 26 Oct 1857 (or 1852), W. Hanover Twp, Dauphin Co., PA. His bapt. records list his parents as Daniel & Catharine Rhoads. BUT I have his schoolbook with the inscription: "Willoughby Roth's arithmetic, school No. 6, Dec. 2nd 1859". Family history says the name was originally ROTH, but I don't know WHEN the name changed or WHO changed it. I don't know whether to look for Daniel & Catharine as Rhoads OR Roth. (I can't find either one in W. Hanover.) To make matters more confusing, Willoughby's wife died in 1886 & the name on her marker is spelled RHODES. Willoughby used that spelling until he died in 1928 , Seattle,WA. Willoughby eventually moved to Ohio abt. 1890 & remarried. Its possible he had some family connection in Springfield but I can't find that either. This has been a brick wall for me. I can't get past my g-grandfather . Any ideas? Jerry Rhodes

    3. Do you know where Neuberg is? If it is along the Volga, it may well have been named after your Neu family. My understanding is that many villages were named after their first "Mayor". I am looking for information about my Grandfather, Adam Roth, b. 1890 in the Saratov province in the Volga area, but I don't know which village. His parents were Peter and Mary Roth. Any information would be appreciated!
