    1. Otto Roth
    2. ruth stubbs
    3. Otto Roth was in the Army in Germany before coming to the United States. The following information is from a little army issued book. It is written in German. The first page gives general information about him. He was born October 2, 1855 in Weibersbrunn, Aschaffenburg, Germany. His parents were Anton and Marianna Roth. His father was a glaser. They were Catholic, Otto was approx. 5'5" tall, had dark blonde hair, a long chin and a long nose. He entered the German Army Nov 7, 1876 as a member of the Infantry. From entries in the back of the book: I left home 21 Jan 1880 for America, arriving New York on 8 Feb 1880 I worked and got to St Louis 10 Mar 1880 (The date 1880 seems to have been changed from 1881). Other notes concern the births and deaths of his parents and children. He married Anna Marie Sailer in St. Louis. Very little else is known about him. Ruth Autrey Stubbs

    1. Carl ROTH and Ernestine GROSKOPF arrived in US 1857
    2. Carl ROTH b. 1829 and Ernestine/Elizabeth GROSKOPF b 1832 arrived in the US from Germany in 1857 and settled in Shumway Illinois. I assume they were married when they arrived. Their daughter Ida Willimenie ROTH ENGEL died in childbirth in 1903. Ernestine's death certificate (1914) was signed by Robert ROTH. Ida's daughter, Martha, who was born in 1903 is still alive and well. We would love to be able to tell her more about her family. Aunt Martha has a few cute stories about visiting her grandmother but scant facts.

    1. Re: Family Crest
    2. Hello. Am interested to learn more about your Roth family crest. Also I have lots of Roth information about family coming from Prussia in mid-1800´s (1853-1854) to America, mostly Wisconsin and some later to Washington state. Prussian documents reveal name was spelled, sometimes in same document, both as ROTH and ROTT. Contact at trothmunich@yahoo.com or troth@tcpconnect.com

    2. Thanks so much. This has been an exciting evening. My Dad just e-mailed me that he finally got around to digging through the old pictures and records. He found a picture of his grandmother with her father, Webster Tyler Roth, in Dodge City. Also other information about other family members. I am going to try to have him scan the pictue in and send it to me. I would be happy to pass it along when and if this happens. My e-mail address is draegray@yahoo.com Thanks again, Dee

    1. Re: Webster T. Roth
    2. Dee: What a surprise to get a response to a message I posted a year ago!! I'm afraid I don't have much information to help you. However, I would be glad to contact another Roth relative on your behalf, to inquire if they have anything on Webster Tyler Roth. The Chester Field Wright Roth and Maude Chestine Burdue you listed in your 01/11/01 posting were my wife's grandparents She THINKS that Chester's father was named Webster. The part about the Old Soldier's Home is correct according to her memory. Please contact me if you wish me to proceed as above. Best of luck in your search. I am currently researching my Schroeder/Theener lines. It is a slow, but very rewarding process. Sincerely, Bob Schroeder
